Colony survival update log
I also upgraded the front guard Island and added a lot more guards to it. Side note, since the zombies were over running me, I decided to make an even longer choke point by digging out 2 blocks on each side of my main walkway into the castle so they have to go atleast 20 blocks in a straight 3 block wide path. The only issue regarding lag is the just the wheat now but I think it updates certain fields over time instead of all the fields at once if I'm not mistaken.
So far I have had no issues with any character lag as far as movement or when the zombies die. Great News! The new update was just released and fixed fixed the character glitches! Perfect timing too. I'm just saying what actually happens to the game after time and progression, I understand it is VERY early in development and know that things will be optimized in the future, its just a matter of time. Keep in mind, I am not comlaining about these issues. I had to add 2x the guards to each tower because I started getting over run and zonbies got in but that is only because of the glitching. Here is another screenshot of the actual size of the colony now (227 Colonists): Thats the best I can do to show what I mean. Try to open both up and flip between then fast to tell the difference. Here are 2 screenshots I took right after eachother, like within a fraction of a second to show the character lag: It isn't much different then the wheat growing and lagging out the game except with the characters I wasn't physically lagging, just the characters spazing out. Moral of the story, many moving entities are very very bad for the game. As in ZOMBIES CAN HIT YOU, even my guards in the floating towers were dying, no mater where you are if one decideds to glitch to you.Īlso, slight side note, the my colonists did stop glitching out when they walk, but the reason that they did is because they were all moving at the same time as when the zombies were spawning. The zombies and guards, when moving, will glitch through walls and fly into the air several blocks away from there actual position. I was able to recover somewhat but I don't want to load that world again untill optimizations are fixed because I know I won't be able to work fast enough before the night comes and by then I will be finished. The game started to act very odd with the characters spazing out everywhich way and my guards weren't able to hit the zombies because of it. Ok, so I hit 208 colonists and then everything just became extreamly difficult, but not in the sense of game difficulty. 24GB RAM (Upgraded one 8GB card to a 16GB) I wouldn't say its necessary, but I run my fans in the optional overdrive state.
The game does make my laptop heat up to 80☌-87☌. I haven't relogged since that happened so it may go away, I will update if it goes away. However, the lag from when they all die in the morning is about half the lag as the wheat growing.Īfter about 130-150 colonists they have decided to lag behind and jolt like every half second or so, like they are getting server lag but in singleplayer. The Zombies spawning have not been an issue at all and I average at about 700 shots per night, not all hits on zombies so probobly about 500-600 zombies during the whole night. It should still be optimized though because, in the long run, this is a quite small Colony. So I just hit 156 Colonists and the lag with the wheat growing in the early morning just about freezes my laptop for a good 5 seconds, runs at about 5 FPS at the most, but that being said I have a rediculous amount of farms now.
Just wanted to make a forum post to give people an idea of what its like after a certain point in the game such as lag with wheat growing, zombies spawning and dieing, colonists moving etc. Screenshots are ususally in each post for a visual description. Edit: Most recent news and information will be at the bottom, keep in mind.
